Mariko's acupuncture specialties include addressing stress, anxiety, emotional wellness, and both men's and women’s reproductive health using Classical Chinese Medicine, Neijing style Korean acupuncture and medical Qigong. Mariko has spent her career helping others in Health and Wellness working as a Yoga and Meditation Instructor, Fitness Coach, Corrective Exercise Specialist and Reiki practitioner.
Mariko has always had a passion for helping others through their healing journeys. Her career began as a fitness coach and yoga instructor which opened the door to Chinese Medicine. Although she enjoyed optimizing the physical body, she did not feel it was diving deep enough to facilitate true healing. Mariko believes the human body has an innate ability to heal itself when allowed to reach optimal balance. Her philosophy is deeply rooted in addressing what is out of balance and optimizing the path for healing.
Mariko realized her draw to Chinese Medicine after training with a yogi who was also a doctor of Chinese Medicine. She was fascinated with this doctor’s ability to dive deep into all aspects of physiology including mind-body connection. Her beliefs aligned perfectly with her trainings which taught her how to treat illnesses by tracing the fundamental causes of physical and psychological imbalance and then use a multitude of modalities depending on the individual’s needs. Mariko uses a “whole person” approach to find the root cause of illness and determine which modalities are best suited for that person. She has a diverse and unique skill set which allows for optimal healing.
Mariko has a Master’s degree in Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine from Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine, where she graduated with honors. She is currently working towards her doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine specializing in women’s health and aging populations. Mariko is experienced in working with a wide patient population as well as collaborating with other practitioners to effectively treat shared patients. She has a strong passion for learning and is consistently adding to her skill set through continued education.
